Under Pressure

Please be patient

I get it. People need to make a living.

When I asked for help designing artwork for my upcoming book, the flood of offers was a little overwhelming.

It took me a week to read through all of the offers and send responses, but by the end of the week about half the people had already sent me additional information or “followed up” with me.

I tried to walk a mile in their shoes to understand why someone would follow up so quickly when I hadn’t responded to them yet. Seems like these are the main reasons:

  1. Maybe I hadn’t received their response?

2. Some truly wanted additional information.

3. Most were under the impression that applying pressure was a good way to do business.

I may just be a slower responder than other people. If that’s true, then please forgive me.

I do appreciate your patience, especially the people who have been kind and understanding. While I didn’t know what to expect, the people who have been patient with me are the ones who I can see working with.

I’d love to hear from people who help writers: How quickly do you expect a response when someone initially reaches out to you?
